i'm boooored

Oh what an extremely booooring weekend. I just want to make party like the Germans say. All night long, dancing, dancing and being happy. But no. I have to stay at home. I have to. But my body is aking for some fun. Well, well, Tuesday peeps, Tuesday. That's when the construction hell hole is over. Tuesday.

This morning though was a bit different. Every Saturday we take turns in making breakfast here in the house. I made savoury scones, Veronica went to IKEA and got us Swedish cheese and knäckebröd and Taylor and Bianca made us American pancakes. Today it was Jade's turn, so we had cantonese dim sum and dumpling soup with dried mini shrimps and seaweed. I've never had seaweed for breakfast, that's for sure. Interesting..!

Anywhosers. Have to stop taking breaks now. (Tuesday.. Tuesday.. Tuesday.. It's my mantra.)

"vi ska till möja, supa, slåss och bråka"

I'm struggling a bit here. Planning on going to Cairns for 5 days. But all I can think about really is midsummer in Sweden with Emelie and Ullis. It's like I don't want anything else right now. Just Möja. But this whole Cairns thing. Should I? And should I go alone if ... doesn't come along? All these questions. No answers.

Anywhosers. Today Veronica, Ivan, Tobi and I had fish and chips at this place just around the corner from where we live. It won the award for the best fish and chips in Australia 2008. I'm no huge f&c fan but I wonder how it tasted in 2008 cause it definitely wasn't the best I've ever had.

Whatever, it will probably be another 10 years before I have another fish and chips so then I'll probably forgotten all about it and claim it was the best I've ever had. And after you are done wondering about why you keep reading my blog check this out. Funniest 5 seconds in a very long time.

Images: Hanna (who's not coming this year. Boring.) and Emelie (oh yeah, German boys if you read this, Emelie is one of the two cute single girls I was talking about today..) and I last time I spent midsummer on Möja, 2007.

things i'm thinking about now:

- How much I want to bake bread, but can't. Decided on Friday. No more bread for a while.
- How I hate the design of my blog and wish for someone to make me a new one...
- How funny it must have looked like from the outside when Daniel and I broke in to Tobi's room in the search for his car keys.
- How sad I am for Tobi's sake that his car's gearbox is broken so he can't drive it and now the damn thing is leaking oil and our neighbour is threating to call the council if we haven't moved it by tonight.
- How much my back hurts but I wont complain because I don't complain any more.
- That I really, really, really have to pee but I just painted my nails so that wont happen for another 10 minutes or so.

"chicken... good!"

Because sometimes.

It is okay to disappear from all the commotion upstairs. Grab a snack and some wine. Crawl into bed. Put on a good ol' nineties film. And just enjoy your own company. That's what I did on Monday night. I love being alone. I'm such a great person to hang out with.

"cause we were fated to pretend"

For those days that are just up and down and up and down.
For those days when my housmate Taylor saves me from hating InDesign for ever and for those days when Toby The Undertaker (he needs a cool name too right?) puts on the barbie and saves me from starvation.

For those days I'm happy I live where I live and have blogs like this to read.

"ja må hon leva, ja må hon leva!"

So. Today it's my birthday! Exiting stuff really. Really.

And it couldn't have been a better day. Really. Got woken up at 7 by my parents calling from Sweden. Singing. And then I heard exited noises upstairs so I didn't dare get up. And all of a sudden they were all there. My lovely housmates. Singing. And bringing me cards and cake and tequila. Not to drink right then. But later.

And then, like an angel from the sky our landlord showed up. And she brought the bbq that she promised us when we moved in. Perfect timing or what?

So after 3.5 hours of laughing, at times almost crying Super Ivan and I had assembled the whole thing. It's a space ship. Brand new. Shiny. We call it Chivan. After its two creators. Beautiful really. Really.

So now after making cupcakes and salads we are gonna have a big celebrational bbq. I love my house. I love that it's my birthday. I love Australia. Really.

Oh. And that tequila is for now. Ohh yeees.

"oh but you're an explosion, you're dynamite"

Today the boys and I went to the rugby game here in Brisbane. My first live rugby match ever. Oh it was fun! I love sports like rugby and ice hockey. Real men. Real sports.
And soon we're gonna watch the Formula1 on tv. Do you understand what I'm saying here? After four weeks in a house filled with menly men I'm watching sports every day, drinking beer like it was water and I'm not disturbed by belching and ladish behaviour. Jesus Christ. I'm sure I'm gonna start growing a penis soon. I know girls' periods synchronize when they live together but I had no idea I would get so affected by living with men. Oh well. It's fun anyways. Much more fun than painting your toenails and watching SATC.

"there's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be"

Wow it's hot here in Brissy today. Sunny, and hot, hot, hot.

When I haven't been sitting outside in the sun I have been playing with paper. Zaha Hadid style. (Well, mine looks like shit in comparison but you get the idea.) And one thing that strikes me is that I really miss living with Emma and Rhona. In our flat it was okay to spend a whole day lying on the floor cutting into paper. Here, in the house of 46 Heidelberg Street, everyone. Listen to me: e v e r y o n e is an engineer. Do you think they make fun of my cutting and colouring and drawing. Mhm sista, yes they do.

But I made a concept model of a shelter for the heat that has photovoltaics on top and Islamic patterns cut into it so it makes nice shadows on the ground. Super Ivan laughs. I say I'm awesome. (Oh, and yes. Calm down, it's not the final product. I will not have pictures of Canadian towels and pink bikinis when I actually present it.)

Tonight we're going to the cinema. And all I can say is baby steps dear readers. Baby steps...

"a man walks down a street, he says why am i soft in the middle?"

I know some of you want to skype with me. Sorry guys. Aint gonna happen. The internet here in the house is so frickin slow. Especially down in my room. So email me instead. Or call me on my Swedish phone. Or better yet. Send me a letter. Oh yes, yes yes. Please do. I'm the best penpal ever.

Oh boy, have I been super duper efficient today. Woke up, read 50 pages in my book. Had breakfast. Made research and put a pdf together in InDesign for my presentation tomorrow on cool things like this. Then some work on my portfolio project that I still have in Edinburgh. Lunch. Then sent an email to a woman about an internship this fall. Wrote a letter to the best cousin in the whole world. Then the sun came out for 30 minutes so I put my bikini on and enjoyed the sun whilst drawing buildings in my sketch book. Then it started raining, and I probably don't have to tell you what I did for the next 30 minutes? Yep. 2 laps.

And I just want to remind you that in exactly 2 weeks it's my birthday. So If you're wondering where you're gonna send that beautiful birthday card you made me this weekend then my address is:

46 Heidelberg Street
East Brisbane
QLD 4169
l'Australie

"it seems today that all you see is violence in movies, and sex on t.v."

Today the sun has been shining all day to the extent that it almost bored me.

No, okay. My grandma told me it is wrong to lie. It has been raining all day. ALL DAY without a stop. Parts of Brisbane are now flooded and people are being evacuated from their homes. But not us, cause we live on the slope of a hill. Wooha! And down that hill is the river. So before 46 Heidelberg Street is flooded the river has to rise about ten metres. Highly unlikely. I hope.

But I went running anyways, you know how life is down in healthy Australia. Can't blame the rain, your fat ass ain't gonna dissapear on its own. 1.5 laps took 25 minutes. What is happening? I'm already getting that fast that one lap took me 20 minutes when I first started a week and a half ago and now 1.5 takes 25? Oh well. Nothing to complain about I guess. Tomorrow: 2 laps.

Now I'm gonna head back into the wonderful world of Family Guy. Oh the joy that Brian gives me. Who needs a man when you have Family Guy?

"if i could offer you only one tip for the future. sunscreen. would. be. it"

So I burnt myself today. Yup. And quite badly at that. But that's what I do every summer. Burn myself so bad I can't sit, or stand or lie down. But then after two days I have the best sunburn ever. And yes. I did wear sunscreen, it didn't matter. It never does for me.

And tomorrow my classes start. I get to have one class with the architects this semester. I sure hope they live up to my expectations. They have to wear black on black, have dark rimmed glasses, neat hairstyles, be super skinny, and most important, they always, always have a folder under their arms. That's what I envision. If they don't look like that I'll change to something else.

Oh, and it's now official. I have the worst memory in the history of time. I can't remember anyone's name. I know Veronica the Swedish girl. And Nick the chatty Dutch guy. But that's it. That's two out of 11 people I live with. I'm so rude, or unfocused. Let's go with unfocused, it's not as sad.

"how many special people change? how many lives are living strange?

Just moved into my room on 46 Heidelberg Street. It's as amazing as I thought it would be. Although, I must say I kind of envisioned myself moving in with 10 hot Aussies. Well three German guys and a Dutch man/boy will do for now. I mean, if any are the Australian of Europe it must be the Germans right? Haha. Maybe not. Oh well, I like sauerkraut. I really do, and since I'm now vegeterian except for one meal every week I think it all might just work out well.

I took this picture the other day just for the sole reason that this plant has the most beautiful name. Bougainvillea. That's how you name a plant guys.

Well, I need to get going now folks, have to catch the ferry (!) to uni.
